BCA DTS Compliance Reports

A BCA DTS Report applies to Class 1 and Class 10 buildings, as classified under the BCA and applies to residential projects such as alterations and extensions, new dwellings, duplexes, townhouses, etc.
Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) compliance can be achieved through meeting the BCA Elemental Provisions. Alternatively residential projects are assessed via NatHERS thermal modelling, Performance Solution, or BASIX for NSW.
BCA Elemental Provisions Method
The Elemental Provisions method shows compliance with the Deemed-To-Satisfy Elemental Provisions contained within the Building Code of Australia (BCA). These are the nationwide minimum building and performance standards and this method basically means that a building project will have a standard checklist of requirements applied to it that meet the BCA standards.

This approach is relatively simple, however it is inflexible as the requirements are either met or the building does not comply. This method can create problems for projects and the glazing requirements can also be very high and unbalanced in relation to the thermal performance of other building elements. For these reasons, where the option is available, it is usually chosen as second preference to the other compliance methods.

The Elemental Provisions method is applicable in all states and territories except in NSW where this standard is overridden by BASIX for most building projects. Please contact us for more information or see our other alternative assessment services.
